There are ten BFFA anthologies altogether (available from Amazon. All links to Amazon on different countries at adhocfiction.com) containing stories from the 31 Awards we have run since 2015. But there is one missing from the picture of the anthologies on the garden table. The first writer to tell me the name of the missing anthology and the picture on the cover, can win a free entry to Bath Flash Fiction Award, closing this Sunday October 4th at midnight GMT. Some fun facts about the anthologies
1.Titles
1.The anthology titles are the title of a story included the final fifty in one of the rounds during that year. We’ve used first prize winners, placed and listed writers: Things Left and Found by the Side of the Road ( first prize, Jo Gatford) Snow Crow (First Prize Doug Ramspeck) How to Fold a World Map, (Commended Tiffany Harris), Longlisted To Carry Her Home, (Christopher Allen), Longlisted The Lobsters Run Free (Anne Marie Geary) long listed Restore to Factory Settings (J A Keogh), longlisted The Constancy of Wood Pigeons Tracy Fells, longlisted With One Eye on the Cows Annette Edwards-Hill longlisted The Weather Where You Are by William Davidson.
2. The Anthology To Carry her Home has a SmokeLong vibe. The title story which is the last story in the anthology is by SmokeLong’s Christopher Allen. The first story in the book is ‘One in Twenty Three,’ first prize winner in one of the first Awards by SmokeLong’s Helen Rye.
3. Images The lobsters, the crow, the pigeons, the weather map and the world map are all taken from images from the 17th century or before
4. Stories within Each anthology contains around 135 stories. Everyone long listed in each Award (50 writers) is offered publication but some would like to keep their stories for elsewhere
5. Title Choice We choose the title of the anthology after the last Award of the year is complete at the end of October when writers have accepted publication So as well as a prize, you have a chance of having your title chosen for the anthology title at the end of this month if you enter the award. The eleventh anthology will contain stories from the 32nd, 33rd and 34th Awards.
